Sarah Lloyd Ceramics

I create wheel thrown, home ware in small batches. Wedging flecks, spangles and stains into the clay. I have trialed and tested a range of calm neutral and rich punchy glazes. Which comfortably fit my stoneware forms. The form and jointing of my work is influenced by the structural anatomy of plants, I find solutions in how they have adapted their structural skeleton to specific climatic conditions. I also draw from my Indian heritage, specifically temple architecture and the rich natural resources, of India, that provide a huge range of natural plant dyes used to create vibrant and earthy colour palettes. Each piece is designed and developed through sketchbooks and then further refined in the ceramics studio until the final piece is produced in the kiln. B.A. Honours in Three Dimensional Design - Manchester Metropolitan University.
