Out of the Woods
In celebration of our woodlands and skilled wood workers and basket makers we present Out of the Woods with Hilary Burns & Friends.
Hilary Burns, highly acclaimed willow artist and basket maker is one of the UK's leading baket makers and willow expert. She will be joined by Andrew Kirby, Richard Lewis and Rosie Brewer.
Andrew Kirby will be inviting visitors to pound a fresh, large ash log to separate the growth ring layers. This is commonly done for basketry in the US but is relatively unknown in the UK.
Rosie Brewer is a designer-maker specialising in unique, wooden kitchenware & spoons – both one-off and batch production pieces. Both minimalist and sleek, taming the wildwood for modern lives. Rosie will be demontrating making her kitchenware and spoons.
Many makers are inpsired by the natural world signallying a move back to traditional skills and methods when creating their works.
