In The Window, Bentons Menagerie
Written: 07 October 2015
Crunchy leaves, sculptural branches, fungi and acorns. ..no, this is not just the autumnal view outside, but the amazing woodland scene in the window of our shop in Bovey Tracey!
The very talented Tracey Benton of Benton’s Menagerie arrived earlier this week to set up her window showcase, and it’s already proving a great hit with our visitors.
Inspired by British wildlife, Tracey creates needle felted sculptures from 100% wool. Full of character, expression and charm, each piece is sculpted by hand and takes many hours to make. Details are added to the work using stitch and beads and the sculptures are often displayed on her handmade ceramic bases or on ceramic plaques to hang on the wall. We have a fabulous hedgehog, squirrel, toadstool, little acorn brooches and more. Come and see for yourself.
Tracey will be exhibiting and running a workshop at our sister event in Cardiff, Made By Hand, later this month. Follow this link for details.
