Craft Festival wins Silver for Best Event in South West England

The Contemporary Craft Festival, Bovey Tracey, Devon has been awarded Silver at the South West for Tourism Event of the Year in front of leading businesses from across the region. This award joins their recent Visit Devon Gold Event of the Year and Herald Express Tourism Gold Event of the Year awards.
Festival Director, Sarah James has led the business from the very beginning was suitably delighted with the result.
"It is so exciting to see contemporary craft and making get the recognition is so very much deserves. We are a tiny team and with my colleague, Nina Fox we pull together a large event that is appreciated by nearly 10,000 people each year. The timing is perfect as we have just launched our event programme for 2015!”
Over 200 of the UK’s finest makers will be exhibiting and the 2015 programme is brimming with workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, craft curiosities, children’s activities and entertainment, street theatre, festival food and live music.
New features include the Textile Tent held in association with Plymouth College of Art, with hands on craft activities. Curiovan is a mobile gallery and musuem showcasing the natural world and art inspired by it. On the edge where fact meets fiction awaits you in an old wooden caravan... ONE HUT FULL is a multi-sensory experience presented in a beautifully made shepherds hut. One Hut Full immerses visitors in the work of hill farming on Dartmoor. Barrel Top Wagons has teamed up with Design Nation to present leading designer maker idea in a handmade, wooden towing vehicle. It’s what dreams are made of.
10,000 visitors regularly visit The Contemporary Craft Festival, one of the UK’s largest and much loved craft events. You can expect a weekend brimming with live action from over 200 makers of contemporary craft including award winning silversmiths, potters, furniture makers, textile artists, print & paper artists, glass makers and jewellers.
