Claire Armitage

I work from my studio in Cornwall, where my surroundings inspire much of my printmaking and textiles. My artwork is about capturing of a sense of place, exploring our complex interconnectivity with nature and the wild. I take my sketchbook with me whenever I go for walks, often re-visiting the same places. This develops a deep sense of connection, watching as the colours and fauna change with the seasons. I develop my sketchbook drawings into limited edition prints; my current series combines mono-printing and lino printing. Some of this artwork also develops into new designs for my textiles. My luxurious textiles are adorned with beautiful prints inspired by my sketchbook drawings and illustrations, my design philosophy is the create exquisite textiles to cherish, each piece is digitally printed and hand finished with care. My textiles collections comprise a range of silk scarves, bags, purses, silk covered compact mirrors and brooches.
