Amanda Denison

Non Precious Jewellery

I am inspired by the traces left through decay and dilapidation and by the marks stamped on the urban environment. And I am drawn to repeated elements that distort and change. My fascination with pattern and surface structure translates into my jewellery. I have a fine art background and this influences my approach; I draw into my enamelled surfaces and mark making and texture is integral to my work. I make contemporary art jewellery and combine precious and non-precious metals. I enjoy the challenge of working with industrial materials (steel and wet process enamel) and traditional making processes. Patinas and enamels add colour but my palette is always restrained. The result is one-off pieces of distinctive, wearable art.
