Almaborealis creates clothes that kids can make. Our product range 'Puzzleware' of playful, woolly learning tools offers a platform for kids (4-12 years), to get involved in designing and constructing their own clothes. Learn the running, whip, back and chain stitch with our 'Learn to Stitch' kits and use these skills to create your own woolly wearable items. Our kits are designed to provide an open-ended, child-led experience, transferrable life skills; dexterity, problem solving and creative thinking, exploration and discovery through clothes creation. Our products are made in Scotland with elbow powered knitting machines, in our Edinburgh studios using Scottish sourced 100% woollen yarns, biodegradable by default. Almaborealis was created by Finnish knitwear designer Maija Nygren, now based in Edinburgh, who is a passionate craft educator and believes that by making, we learn to understand where things come from, learn to care for our clothes and repair items more.
