Alison Taylor Knitwear

Textiles

I design luxury knitwear, hand-made in Wales on domestic knitting machines. Colour, pattern and texture are fundamental to my design process, combining old school craftmanship and contemporary design to make statement pieces with a timeless quality. Finding inspiration from the rich heritage of my culture and surroundings from castles to countryside, garments and accessories can be worn as stand-alone pieces or mixed together to create cacophony of pattern overload. Researching the Welsh Woollen Industry and Scandinavian design, my current collection of knitwear is informed by traditional Nordic and Celtic patterns and images, developed to create a symbiotic marriage of culture and traditions. Using soft to handle, sustainable yarns, I knit my intricate patterns in luxurious merino wool which feels comfortable near to the skin. With care the knitwear should last beyond the seasonal fashion lifecycle and instructions on mending will enhance the garment and prolong its wear.
